In July of 1986, a group of golfers from the Bozeman area formed the Gallatin County Junior Golf program that provided the youth of the area the opportunity to compete during the summer months. Through the careful guidance of countless volunteers, that budding idea evolved into the Wheat Montana Junior Golf Tour, and starting in 2023 is now The First Security Bank Junior Golf Tour. This junior program is open to all boys and girls, ages 7-17, in Bozeman and the surrounding Gallatin Valley area including Belgrade, Big Sky, Big Timber, Ennis, Gardiner, Livingston, Manhattan, Three Forks, and Townsend.
Five qualifying tournaments are held throughout the summer.

The younger age divisions play 9 hole rounds, while the older age divisions play 18 hole rounds. The top three winners in each age category qualify for the season championship tournament. Three new golfers qualify every tournament, as a person can’t qualify twice for the championship.
